Dr Paul Toyne is an expert in the sustainable built environment. He currently advises business - across the whole value chain - who are placing sustainability at the centre of their commercial purpose, helping them to create triple bottom line benefits in profit, environment and social outcomes.
One of the industry’s leading sustainability thought-leaders, Paul has a diverse background having worked as an environmental campaigner, conservationist and sustainable built environment specialist. Paul has held senior posts as Group Sustainability Director for the infrastructure company Balfour Beatty, Group Sustainability Director for the design and engineering consultancy WSP Global and Head of Sustainability for Bovis Lend Lease. He has also worked in consultancy advising governments and blue-chip companies, and in the environmental NGO sector with WWF-UK.
Paul is a member of the Infrastructure Working Group of the UK government’s Green Construction Board, Chair of Constructing Excellence's sustainability forum and is a London Sustainable Development Commissioner for London, appointed by the Mayor of London. Paul participates on a number of advisory boards including: BSI's environment and sustainability; Heathrow Sustainability Leadership Panel; and is a BRE ambassador.
